#balanceforbetter Women’s Week

To celebrate International Women’s Week 2019

Dundaloo was one of 36 successful Women’s Week Grant recipients from over 360 applications to fund the event.

Dundaloo Active was successful in gaining a 2019 Women’s Week Grant from the NSW State government to celebrate Women’s Week 2019 on Friday March 10 at Dundaloo Active.

The focus of the afternoon was celebration and safety.

Aunty Pam Sanders delivered the Welcome to Country and spoke of her early childhood memories of visiting Dundaloo with her mother.  Pam recalled those visits taught her about respect and caring for people in the community.

Representatives from the Manning Great Lakes Local Area Command spoke about Cyber security and answered a number of questions about keeping safe on social media and internet scams.

Members of the Bushland Voices and Wingsong Choir performed a number of items that celebrated women.

A beautician was in attendance and participants were able to sample products and have trial makeups to build confidence and knowledge with applying makeup.

Many people chatted over an informal afternoon tea.

A feature of the afternoon was a movie made by staff at Dundaloo Active.

A number of local identities were interview answering the question “How women have made their life better”.  The answers were inspiring and diverse.  Some spoke about their wives, mothers and those they had close relationships with, while others spoke about women who have influenced the community.

The video will be used as a resource to promote diversity and demonstrate the positive impact of women in people’s lives.
