Bowling for a Cause

Friends, families, local business and community members all gathered at Forster Ten Pin Bowling Centre on Monday 19 February in support of local people bound for the Special Olympics Nationals to be held in Adelaide in April.

It was a night of fun filled competition.  Each team got to draw a name of a Special Olympic bowler out of a hat who then joined the team for the competition.  Then it was game on!  That process was repeated during the night so the teams were all shaken up and people had the opportunity to mix and connect more.

The Mid North Coast Region is very well represented with 17 bowlers from the Manning, Great Lakes and Port Macquarie region competing.  All training and competing costs are incurred by the individual.

Julie Daskal, the organiser of the evening was ‘blown away’ with the community support and the $5000+ raised on the night.  Julie would especially like to thank all those who attended and the Forster Ten Pin Bowling Centre for donated the use of the Centre for the evening.

Jane Holland from DSS, a member of the ‘Wooden Spooners’ for the night said, “the atmosphere was terrific.  Everyone was just enjoying each other’s company, there were no barriers or differences just people having fun”.
