So what is capacity Building?

The NDIS define personal capacity building as: Making sure people with disability and their families have the skills, resources and confidence they need to participate in the community or access the same kind of opportunities or services as other people.

Capacity Building is supporting people and families to exercise their own choice and control, develop new forms of support and skill that build independence and a happy, contented life.  Capacity building is not a goal in itself.  It is an approach that empowers individuals to access and create a life that is meaningful to them now and into the future.

At Dundaloo we consider capacity building a demonstration of respect for people’s individual right to live their own life.

Capacity building also applies to Dundaloo as an organisation.  We have regular staff development initiatives, activities to develop leadership, we have review processes to strengthen internal management, and we carefully allocate resources and build partnerships.

We do this so you can be confident Dundaloo person centred practices are sustainable and of the highest level into the future.  You can also be certain we will grow with you as together we discover new opportunities through the NDIS.
